I'm working on finding a starting problem. early morning starts w/heater starts right up and quickly dies. It wont restart after that. Fuel starved?
Checked for leaks along return line and found nothing. possible leak atop the fuel filter housing. Sensor(?) atop the housing unit has diesel fuel leaking out.
Can that sensor be removed and replace o rings or complete sensor or do I need a new housing unit?? Any answers/ suggestions gladly taken!
There are O rings around the fuel heater plug, the one on top of the filter header.
Fuel leaking out is not the problem.
Air leaking in is the problem.
When air leaks in, the vacuum that keeps the fuel above the tank level is broken and the fuel returns to the tank.
Most common problem, the return lines between the injectors, IP and filter header as well as the return tee's on the injectors and the two O rings under each return cap.
After hot fuel runs through the return lines, everything gets a bit hard.
If disturbed they start leaking air in.
When you replace the return lines, do them all.
After you do the job, try hard to not move the return lines or you will be doing it again.
Glow plugs can be checked easily.......... As for the heater plug oring leak click on my name and email me I will forward the repair info. Use subject: Heater oring fix.
Thanks PLC7.3 For the Info on the link. Im convinced that my problem lies in the top of that filter housing! copper ring or o-ring seal worn out??! was thinking bout taking the filter housing mount, and filter out to see if its accessible from the underside to be fixed. Nut and seal holding the censor??
Cant figure the email thing out but interested in any additional info or experience you may have here! Thanks
