I came across tube-and-fin oil cooler at a secondhand store awhile back, 8"x14"x1", 1/2" NPT connections, brand new, still in blister packaging.
I already have an engine oil cooler that I'm happy with, so perhaps this could be used as an power steering oil cooler--reduce engine compartment heat, if nothing else.
Actually I've been running a 2-pass for the power steering for many years, it does keep the fluid lookin' much better, so I figure it must be working well. You can really tell which side is "in" and which side is "out" heat wise. I run slightly oversized tires (35") and don't have anywhere near the heat build-up at the pump when off-road. Adds a little more capacity to the system, just make sure it's mounted below the full level of the pump, otherwise it'll drain and overflow the pump when shut-off.

BUT i do have an idea how you go about things! haha..you have a knack for doing it right the first time!..well heck i am lookin for an oil cooler for my tranny...just never got off my butt and went and got one....if you want to sell let me know....but i dont see why it wouldnt work in that type of application. Just dont know how much good it would do in the long run....meaning is it worth your time......well got to get...
It must be ggod to have "cool" power steering fluid since most new cars use a cooler on it now, even my mom buick 4 door has a power steering cooler, i say go for it !
My 2000 ford ranger had one already on it. It measures 3 inches by 6. I wonder if it really does any good. It seems pretty small to me..
