I had the reflash done in July and have yet to see a message and believe me I watch for it all the time. My tips are full of soot and I leave a small trail of black smoke when I get on it a bit. I get 13.5 MPG here in the hills of southern WV and get into the 17's on the big road. I really don't think I've had a regen since last winter and that was one while I was parked. ??

Sounds like you got a bad DPF. I had the same symptoms and they replaced mine two weeks ago.

I do not have the regen message in my message center but the dealer I went to told me I was on the latest flash. Another dealer that did my oil change said that I was not on the latest flash and they would re-flash the computer for me if I wanted them to. I have not had it done yet.

Had it flashed about 1 month ago. Radiator replaced at same time. Cruise resumes much smoother then before. Mileage has improved 1-1.5 mpg. Have documented mileage over last 1500 miles. Runs just fine. I'd recommend getting it done.

thanks richfaa
i saw john a few weeks ago after a bad experience at clermont ford. when i called they put him on the phone told me to come straight round back to his bay and bypass every one,he talked to me for about an hour with my truck on diagnostics...hes doing my reflash on thursday,he told me what problem i should report in order to get reflash(wink wink) also he said ford is on the verge of putting out a recall for the radiator....very smart guy,no secrets with him, you could tell he was sympathetic to the working guy, told me to add cetane boost when i said ill go up front and buy some he said no no lucas is alot better...now thats a good tech. Hes going to school on mon and tues. so ill get back in this thread if he can give me any new info or heads up on what he learned from fomoco. ....alas you gave me conformation on what i suspected ,john is the real deal.(kinda reminds me of my pap pap R.I.P) thanks brother.......chuck.

Not true. I have the latest flash and on a 600 mile trip had "cleaning exhaust filter" in my display. It lasted 5+ minutes each time. I had two regens in the 600 miles. It has not appeared in 1000+ miles. I didn't believe that I had the latest flash until the message appeared. My mileage has improved 1-1.5 mpg. My tail pipe has some soot, which occurred when I first started using Cetane booster and coincidently, my radiator blew on that trip too! I have never seen smoke come out of my tail pipe. I think Ford did what they had to do to get our trucks to meet federal standards and now are slowly reprogramming them to run more efficient and still meet the standards.

This past Friday 10-10 I had mine reflashed to TSB08-13-2 which I guess is the latest for Job1 trucks built prior to 8/3/07, before going upnorth on a hunting trip. The cruise resume is a lot smoother. As for regens I haven' seen any since it did it in my garage @1200 miles. The truck has 1950 on it as I type this. With two adults, two kids, and a bed full of gear I averaged 17.1 mpg there and back at 69mph "cruise". The Lie meter showed 17.0 when I arrived up north and showed 17.2 when I filled her up at home. Round trip 473miles and 27.6 gals for 17.1 mpg. Could not be happier at this point. With all the issues ariseing with this engine I think I may have a good one. I have a 1200 mile hunting trip in 3 weeks where I will be pulling my double atv trailer. Will post the results then.

If my memory is correct it was on the window sticker, the build date on the door is 02-07and after the reflash the service manager listed the tsb as 08-13-2 which is for builds prior to 8/3/2007. I'm at work now but will look at my paper work when I get home as I sure I saw it on the window sticker.

Ditto for me on the reflash results. (except I didn't get the radiator replaced - put in the venturi tee myself).

I only have one issue with the reflash. As of now I have job #2 and I don't get a notice saying drive to clean exhaust. But ones I do the reflash I'm going to have to drive around for 20 minutes in order for it to do the regen? I'm not sure I want to do the reflash. It doesn't even take that long to get all the way across town. It will look like i'm nuts just driving around in circles so the regen completes. And it seems the fuel issue is hit and miss as well. I will have to give it some more thought before doing it.
