ok, so i just brought home today... a 87/88 Ford Ranger SXT. its a blue regular cab, and it has the factory aluminum brush guard, rollbar, and tube bumer...with four factory offroad lights & a rebuilt tranny w/6,000 mi. on it. so, technically, its not a barn find...cuz it was sittin outside the barn door. but i drove by this thing alot and just asked the guy the other day if he would sell it.... and hetook it. has been sitting there for quite a few years.... the interior is blue and it cleaned up REAL nicley! for what it is, its a really solid truck, with VERY minimal rust and very good trim. have to do a few things...but expect to be driving it here shortly. will try to have pics up shortly
Nice I had a '88 STX regular cab that I loved...had power lumbar bucket seats, AC, tube bumper, the brush gaurd and roll bar too. But years of driving in salt claimed the life of the body, so I'm just finishing up a full body swap to give it a new life. I'll be posting pics of it soon too.
Nice find. Sounds like my find back in the mid 80s. A 76 Camaro sitting under a pine tree. The body was a little bit of a mess with pine needles and sap all over it but it cleaned up ok and for $500 you really couldn't beat it.
my "best find" was a 77 nova concours edition. had 34,300 miles on it - for 300 dollars. my second best would be the taurus, it belonged to the grandmother of my sisters husband and had been garaged its whole life. it had 25,000 miles on it and was bought for 2,500 dollars.
Last year I found an 88 ranger 4x4 in a barn in W,Va, no rust, just dirty. I missed the power of the 4.0, so I bought a new ranger and traded the 88 on my 52 ****** CJ3A. The ****** was setting behind a barn, complete, all there and original. It does need so some work as it hasn't been run in 20 years.
Traded a broke down 71 F-100 and spare 302 for an 83 Ranger w a 2.3L. Drove it 8 months w little problem sold it for 600. Given a 94 ext cab Rangers to haul off. Come to find out it ran. Driving it now, runs great. Cost me 300 bucks to get legal and road worthy. Got my Bronco II for $1000. The deals are out there if u have the money and the time to look for them.
