How do I see "elevation" on factory Nav?
I've had a 2009 Escape Hybrid for a couple of months now and I still have some questions about the Nav system that aren't answered in the manual. I have been unable to figure out how to determine my current altitude (elevation). On my portable Garmin Nuvi 660, if you touch the GPS Signal strength meter you get a screen with your current Lat/Long, elevation, and how many satellites you are receiving (and their signal strength). On the factory Ford system I am unable to find anything other than current Lat/long ("i" button followed by "Where am I"). I don't really need to know signal strength but elevation is an important piece of information that should be available somewhere. Does any one know how to access the GPS readout of vehicle elevation or is it simply not available? Even if it's on an older factory Nav, it might be similiar on the new system.

With the vehicle not in motion....
Ignition "on"
Push both the "3" and "6" buttons at the same time till the unit goes into audio speaker walk test.
Next when this completes push the "End
Test" button
This will take you to the Bezel Diagnostics screen.
Push the "GPS Info" button
It will show you the Altitude, which satellites, Latitude, Longitude, UTC time,.......

Thanks, that worked perfectly. Gives me access to a lot of diagnostic tests and info too. I think altitude should be available directly from the nav screen while driving since it is of interest when driving through the mountains but at least having some way to access it is better than nothing. Thanks again.
