If you want some weird looking planes, just look at the history of Soviet aviation, especially Ekranoplans- They fly about 50' above the water using the ground effect. I think that's what the first plane is.

The Super Guppy used to fly wing sections for the DC8 from Convair in San Diego up to Long Beach for assembly.

Burt Rutan developed some very interesting aircraft, with home builts such
as the VariEze, the VariViggen, The Quickie, The Defiant and the Long-EZ.

Looks like some brother and sister planes got together, had a few drinks, and 9 months later out comes out some of those planes.
