error code interpretation

I have a 1997 Mercury Mountaineer with a 5.0. Check engine light on, pulled the codes, got PO153,PO402,PO171,PO174 Then the code scanner repeated those four codes but added a pd after each code. Can anyone shed some light on this? Any help would greatly be appreciated.

PO402 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Excessive Detected
This means the EGR valve is stuck open or broken, this will cause the motor to run lean.

PO171 Fuel Trim System Lean (Bank 1)
PO174 Fuel Trim System Lean (Bank 2)
This means the computer has reached the limit of its adjustment range trying to compensate for another problem... very likely the EGR problem above.

PO153 O2 Sensor Circuit Slow Response (Bank 2 Sensor 1)
The computer is looking for the O2 sensors to start switching within some predefined time after closed loop operation begins, but it's not because of an existing problem, again very likely the EGR problem above.

If you fix the EGR problem and clear the codes it's very likely none of the others will come back.
