I have lost patience with the stock hood hinges/alignment issues.

I am debating the purchase of a hood tilt kit for my ’56 F100 and would like to hear the experiences/recommendations of those you have one installed and whether it cures some of the coaxing/cajoling movements for closing/opening the stock hood configuration.
Yes, get the hood tilt kit. It works much easier than the stock unit and the fit can be adjusted. See my gallery. I have heard that the aluminum billet units are harder to use that the steel units like mine. Good luck, Jag
Thanks guys for sharing your ideas. It’s great to see that American ingenuity is still alive and well. I am somewhat humbled by your abilities. I am relegated to kits as I do not possess the fabrication talents that some of you portrayed. I bought a one-piece fiberglass front end for my project ’56 and sold it as I had no clue how to fabricate a lift. Now that you’ve shown me all I can say is “wow”.

I have determined that the reverse tilt-kit will not solve the front hood alignment problem. The hood sticks up about ½” inch in the front passenger side whereas the right diver side is aligned. Both the back side appears okay as well. I have to get the passenger side fender in alignment first since the kits use the front hood latch. I tried adjusting the dowel but that puts a lot of spring tension on the latch.

I don’t want to say anything derogatory about the Ford engineers of the ‘50’s since I have seen the commercial that shows the hood being closed with one hand. But when cab mount arms, hood alignment rods, fender alignment rods, and hood latch holes are needed to properly align the hood, all I can say is “uncle”.
