yesterday i took my truck in - the shifter was sloppy - park wasent quite park it was reverse. the mechanic came outside slid under the truck and tightened the loose bolt. So i finally get 10 mins alone with him ( w/o the service advisor ) and ask about mods. He tells me he services about 2 dozen PSD trucks ( small town ) and about half have minor mods ( intake / exhaust ) and 2 have full on Bullydogs. Now he just finished a bedplate replacement on one of the Bullydog trucks and it was covered under warranty. He tells me Ford has directed them to be strict on mods however he said he "has no direct personal or professional knowledge of aftermarket mods causing damage to these trucks" so he will not deny warranty claims based on that fact alone. so he will only question things when there are completely obvious signs of abuse to the vehicle. In other words - dont be an idiot - dont wrap it around a tree and i wont look to hard for mods when you want the warrenty claims. I like this guy.
I have the same relationship with my dealer and the diesel techs there. As you can tell by my siggy I have done some work to my truck. The only thing I did remove which was on it when I bought it was the Banks six gun PDA. I was told to do so by people on this forum and the tech at my dealership. I asked about the SCT and he said as long as I dont do any high HP tunes then I should be ok. I just dont have the $$ for it. Anyway he said that when it comes time for HG's he would studd it for me and the dealer would have no problem with it. Not that I am hoping the HG's go but I do hope it happens while I am in warranty.
