hi there,i have a 94 f-150 4x4 standard cab with the 300 six-backed by the e4od,my problem is when i go to reverse it sort of revs up and dies,or it hiccups a few times then dies and once in awhile it does not do it atall,i changed out the o2 sensor,no change it s not throwing any codes,i dont know where to start? does any one have any ideas? thanks.
Just addressed this in my 95 with a E4OD. This can be caused by the transmission filter backing out (it was the cause for me). I installed an aftermarket clip that helps to secure it beyond the friction fit of the o-ring. Would drop the pan and check
PS. My first post here, glad I may be able to help someone on the forum that helped me soo much in the last year
I have noticed this problem on several vehicles I owned(ford and non ford), What I seen is your backing up while pressing on the brake pedel and turning the steering(backing out of a parking lot) with engine at idle, combination of the three sometimes will bog down the engine enough for the ECU to go into "stall mode" and it tries to recover. Sometimes it won't and sometimes it will(the engine revs up little). This problem is more noticable on smaller engines and not much on the 300 6 cylinder and above. I check for vacuum leaks with the booster as this was a problem I encountered on my 89 F250 with 302/AOD. Also don't pump your breaks as you will loose vacuum at idle(seen it on my vacuum gage I have)
