Excursion 6.0 which programer

hello all i have a 2003 excursion 6.0 that is completely stock. it has 130,000 miles on it. i am interested in using a programer (hypertech, etc) but am worried it may cause some mechanical trouble. can anyone recomend one and will it cause any harm to my tranny, turbo or head gasket. thanks

If you do some searching around here I think you will find that the SCT tunner is the only way to go when it comes to programmers. you can custom tune your ex or just use one of the "canned" tunes that come with it. I plan to get one soon. A tunner will not hurt you if you keep an eye on stuff. Like your EGT's, Trans temp, collant temp, and boost pressure. So if I were you I would make sure to have some sort of gauges, or montering system on the dash or apiller. So you can keep a eye on that stuff. Oh and welcome to FTE. This is the best place for info and help with you ex or any other ford

I second the above, SCT is the safest and best way to go especially with DP-Tuner tunes. I have had mine for two years now and with everything I've tried it's the best and safest.
