Ok, here is an update on this at this point.
Went out and bought a coil pack. I check the resistivity of the new pack and it read .9. I went through each coil pack and checked the resistance. I found number 5 to be close but a bit sporatic. So I replaced that one. Assuming the whole resistance thing. Well at first it seemed ok, no check engine light. Read my codes now a MAF low code comes up. Clean the maf again, didn't resolve the problem. Anyways since it seemed better decided to try it on the road. NOPE... sputter came back.
Now the only thing I can come up with at this point is to try moving the rest of the coil packs around to see if its another pack or not. And to buy a new maf sensor and while I'm at it replace the Map sensor as well. So at that point I will have replaced the 3 main sensors for air/fuel measurement. I really didn't think this was gonna be this difficult to troubleshoot.

Sounds like a heat-related issue with a COP. Do the round-robin thing, unless you can get the misfire counters read.

But "maf low" ? What code was it exactly?

Sounds alot like what mine did and it turned out to be a vac leak on the pvc line to the throttle body.

MAF Low voltage PO102 was the code.
I did check all my vac lines hand over hand

It doesn't matter if the truck is hot or cold, just come on randomly

ITS BACK!!
Spoke to soon yesterday. Outside temp this morning is between 20-30 degrees. It started this sputtering thing. I did get another code
This time PO355- ignition coil E primary/secondary malfunction. If "E" is the number 5 cyl then this is the one that has the new ignition coil on it. Furthest back on the passengers side.

I know this has been discussed before, but if you have good relations with a Ford dealer, let them hook it up to their Worldwide Diagnostic System (WDS).

You may have to get into a situation where you put the engine under load - like hooking it up to a trailer - so that the "sputter" can rear its ugly head.

When I get mine tested, the costs have varied from $45 to $65 depending on how long it took for the problem to surface. The longest time its been hooked up is about 45 minutes...and, as you know, it only takes a few minutes to replace the COP.

Its been running great the last 9 days, with no skips or sputtering.
I ended up changing all the coil packs on it.

For future reference:

Our new Ford COP’s, the Sultans of Spark(S.O.S.), have
been designed with both durability and performance in mind.

Please see them at:

http://www.performancedistributors.com/soscoils.htm

Quality was the main feature we stressed when we went to the
drawing board on these coils.

I saw your price - it says $45.00 for a single coil, but then listed a price of $339.00. What would be the price for 10 COPs?

Maybe I missed that, which ain't nothin new...

my guess that price would be for 8. thats $360 and with a tad bit of a discount might just be $339. just to let you know, there is a company in florida, REBELPERFORMANCE, on ebay too, that i got 10 brand new accel coils for $224 shipped to my door. i got them and they are exactly what he said they are. brand new in the box.... sure beats the junk china made coils and also beats the factory ford coils too.

It's not on the website yet.

We will send you a private message on the price due to the forum rules.
