it does exactly like that, it idles and if i pull out really easy(no fun) then its fine, but if i pull out hard it sputters and if im already moving and try to pass someone the power just isnt there anymore
and i just put new plugs in about a month ago, and new msd plug wires, rotor and cap a few weeks ago, the plug in the first cylinder one the drivers side is getting REALLY bad black powdery buildup on it tho
I'm going to stick my neck out and call it fuel starvation....
If I was having that problem:
I would replace all the rubber fuel lines and fuel filters.
2100 carb most likely so I'd Pull the top off the carb (few flat head screws and choke linkage) and clean every hole with choke & carb spray. Don't drop anything down the carb.
I'd pull the float/needle.
Then pull the jets (2 round brass things under float) and shoot in there too.
You could pull the venturi assembly, but I would remove the carb from the engine. too risky over the intake.
Then reassemble being sure the gasket didn't get torn during disassembly.
On the left side of the carburetor there's a number like 1.08 or 1.23 or something.
It's the venturi size in inches and equates to the CFM.
Thinking it might have a 1.08 off a 302 on it. LOL :)
Cool picture. :)
He's got his finger on the emulsion tube and how they are drilled has a big
influence on performance.
What he's holding is called the "booster assembly" and the hollow screw that
holds it down has a steel or sometimes aluminum rod sitting on a ball bearing.
Try to remember those two little parts as you take it apart. ;)
you guys have been so much help, i dont even have it fixed an really want to thank you haha. i just got on here for the first time today, ill post up that number and stuff tommorow, but seriously, thank you guys so much for all your help, and i know im gonna need alot more lol
just curious, if the firing order was WAY off would that cause problems like this? i looked up the correct order for a 390 fe and it was completly different. the guy i bought the truck from mustve done it, when i put the new car and rotor on i took them off one at a time and made sure they were on the exact same place, maybe i screwed up tho. i havent had a chance to start it since i changed them, truck has glasspacks lets just say this wouldnt be the first time the neighbors called the cops when i started it late
