so i recently bought a 2003 f-250 that has the fx4 package 5.4 and when i got it home a guy pulled up and was looking at it and i realized that mine is about 2 1/2 inches taller and has a heavier suspension than his truck which is 100% identical otherwise i was just wondering what different suspension packages were offered on this truck and how would i be able to tell if mine has a lift previously installed
you could check the spring codes on the door jamb sticker under "spr". it is possible with a 5.4 to have a spring combination from the factory that makes it pretty tall, as well as firm.
T code front springs are fairly light and not going to make it ride high compared to a similar truck with stock suspension. More than likely it has some sort of leveling kit or lift.
The back has the 2" blocks (which is stock for the F250...the F350's had 4" blocks) and probably is only lifted by the two short spring pads on the bottom of the spring pack (hard to tell for sure from the pictures if there are additional leafs in the pack)...so maybe an inch in the back. The front also has the leveling short springs in addition to another leaf (came stock with two full length springs). The original two springs were more than likely not re-arched, so I would guess the front was lifted around 2". This would give the truck stance more level...as opposed to having a 2" difference between the front and the back like what was stock (the front being lower).
