Need A/C, heater expert...

On a '98 F150 w/4.6.

The hot air has stopped coming out.

I've heard it's the 'blend door' and will be checking that this afternoon,

BUT- when I have the setting on full WARM, and the selector on DEFROST, I can hear something cycling- I could swear it sounds like the A/C cycling on & off.

I can't recall ever noticing it before... is that 'normal'?

If it's not, what do I need to look for to make the A/C turn off and the HOT air to resume coming out?

Thanks...

You might not "Need A/C, heater expert". You "Need" to read the Owner's Manual. The A/C is supposed to run when the "selector is on DEFROST" whenever its above the minimum limit temperature of 50 F.

The A/C runs in every position except the PANEL or FLOOR positions & of course OFF.

A bad 'blend door' is a common failure, that's a PITA to fix, but so is a temp control **** spinning on it's shaft, which is easy to remedy.

A/C operation is NORMAL during defrost. See your owner's manual.

Go to the HVAC forum and see the FAQs.
