I have an '06 F-250 PSD that decided today to start giving me fits. This afternoon, I get into leave work, start the truck and the fan goes to it's max setting and starts to blow thru the defroster vents. The problem is that nothing on the auto console is turned on! When I turn on and select a setting (temp at 70 degrees from the dash vent) it works okay, except that the fan is still at max setting. I turn off the air and it goes back to blowing thru the defroster. I can't control the fan speed or keep air from blowing when I want everything off. Any ideas?
There are vacuum actuators under the dash that control the air distribution. Sounds like there may be a vacuum problem in the system somewhere. But that doesn't explain the fan as that is electric. If I understand you and the fan only works on high, then you may have burned out the variable speed resistor pack on the blower. Or the EATC (electronic climate control) head unit is hosed up.

I appreciate it...

Check the OAT sensor for an open circuit.
Just guessing but with this sensor open the HVAC will "think" the outside temperature is SUB-ZERO and that might call for a LOT of windshield heating to prevent fogging.
Yes, it is still under warranty and I have an appointment on Monday. As for being a vacuum problem, I would agree, except that I can still control where the air is directed to. What I can't control is the fan. It's going full blast whether the unit is supposed to be turned off or on which leads me to believe that it's an electrical problem. Thank you for the help, it's at least given me a starting point...
I have seen a few posts before about the auto climate control going wacky, so it is not all that uncommon. It usually requires replacement of the module to get it fixed...
T2Load or anyone tell me what the outcome of this problem was? I have an '06 F250 PSD doing pretty much the same thing. Climate Control turns off with switch and display goes blank, but defroster kicks on full hot. Goes back to complete control if I select AUTO/ON.
Ford Dealer Service is doing some tech research, I'm just trying to get ahead of the problem if I can.
