Climate control function

This might sound like a stupid question, but how should the climate control operate in cold weather when set too auto?

I have a 2011 screw, when its cold out, and I start the truck, cold air blows out of the front defroster when the climate control is set to auto.

The fan on my previous ford vehicles would not function till the engine reached operating temp. Then the fan would turn on and blow warm air to the lower vents.

What are you guys experiencing?

Thanks

I think this was happen with all trucks. when the cold they blow cool air when the warm up then blow hot air. I have never seen a auto function for the hot air.

Ok, al least know I know. The ford service manager said that none of the Fords ever worked that way, but I kow that the fan on my 97tbird and 2005 edge would stay off until the engine was warmed up.

I called Ford and they couldn't tell me how it operated.

I think your Ford service guy is kooky. The auto climate control all the way back in my 92 Taurus SHO worked that way...fan didn't come on until there was sufficient heat. Every auto climate control Ford I've had since 92 worked that way.

My 2011 FX4 Ecoboost works that way too. When set on auto, the fan will not run until it can blow warm/hot air.....if you're getting cold air blowing from the time you turn it on, something is not working as it should.

Be careful if you track snow into the truck and leave it on auto. My Fusion was doing the cool defrost until it warmed up, then switched to floor, full blast, and frosted the inside of the glass with no air blowing onto it to defrost. Couldn't see squat until I pulled over and switched it to defrost for a couple of minutes. It's the climate control version of driving in rain with cruise control on...without traction control or advance-trac

Now that I think about it I guess I cancel out the auto when I turn the fan up to make it blow. I leave mine in auto a lot more during summer than winter. 60 degrees all summer long to beat this Texas heat

That's what I keep telling them. I even called Ford Corporate and they couldn't give me a direct answer.

Thanks, at least know I know i didn't lose my marbles.

My 2012 blows nothing until the engine is warm. I can drive several blocks before the fan kicks in.

I'd be happy to email you a copy of the climate control sections from the service manual. Maybe what you're looking for is buried some where in the pdf. Just hit me up with a PM with your email address and I'll send what I have. I too have an 11 so it might have just what you're looking for.

I'm pretty sure my fan doesn't blow cold on auto.

I finally got to speak to the manager, and he agrees with me.

Thanks

Agree with Beach Bob..............mine blows no air until it warms up. Then it heats up right away.

OK, the system is fixed. It looks like the motor sensor switch was defective.

Now it's working like it should.
