Anyone on here familiar with air brake systems? I am redoing the system in my F-800 semi project. I have a Bendix E-7 brake foot valve, and I have redrilled and ported it to eliminate the ugly manifold that attaches through the fire wall on the trucks, so that I can mount it flush to the fire wall of the 53 cab. I am not running gladhands, or any trailer crap. I have a tandem axle rear. The forward rear axle has my dual chamber brakes (30/30's). The rear rear axle, and the front axle have single chambers (24's I think). I want to simplify the whole thing. I have downloaded schematics from Bendix, and have their catalog as well. I am just wondering what I can do to make the whole better and less complicating with all the excess hoses running everywhere.
We can go over that when I get there if it can wait. With no trailer it gets pretty simple even though it is a dual brake system. Bet that leaves you with a question mark.
I understand the dual part. It's all the excess crap that was used on this frame that I am wanting to reduce to a few lines. It can wait until you get here. Thanks. BTW, how'd I know you would respond.....
Hi I am pretty sure thats the one I put on my 900 last year. As you know these trucks
have the frame mount brake valve. Mine developed a pretty good leak and parts or
replacement is about "0". So I got a valve from a 69 F950. It is small and has 4 ports
front rear supply stop light switch and trailer. Requires a 3" round hole in the floor,
three nuts and bolts and I used bendix plastic tubing. I have to have glad hands,so
I just tapped into service brake and spring brake using ball valves on both sides. My other two trucks still have the original frame brake valves. We put the yellow and red
valves next to the ashtray right of the air gauge, (supply for those come off the tee
above clutch -buzzer air horn tee) What I am saying is I have no clutter under or
on chassis.
Also I regret every time I reply to a thread, the poor guys tread dissapears????????
Sam
Your replies are just fine sam. I see them, the thread is still here. I think the problem is that you aren't on here a lot, and the thread gets knocked down a page or two. Thanks for the info. If you need another E-10 (the floor mounted treadle valve) let me know. I have one I was gonna use, but I got the original L-8000 one to adapt over so I can keep it hidden under the dash board.
