It started (today)as the light blinking. The truck never had any noticable difference in driving while this occurred.. Now the light is on constant (after a couple of hours of operation)and the truck won't shift into o/d. The speedo in working fine. It's a 01' F250 SD 4X4 that i had the torque convertor replaced last week for shuddering. Used an OBDll reader but it says no codes. I'm taking it to a shop in the to get it checked. What should i expect?
Usually means that the computer senses something it doesn't like. Could be as simple as the VSS in the rear diff is dirty or bad or something more serious. Get it checked out ASAP.
Edit:
Was the issue there before the TC was replaced? Did it happen right afterwards? Are you towing heavy loads?
It's weird that the light stays on like that... maybe the wires are broken in the column?
But that wouldn't cause the initial blinking either... very strange.
Good guess! Just got back from the tranny shop and all is good.. NO codes appeared on the scan and when we were moving the shifter back and forth, the light would go on and off. So we unpluged the connection at the column and I got o/d back. I'll have to pick up a shifter somewhere as it a one piece item with button, harness, and stick included. So i guess that must be the problem. I'll let you know when i replace the part so we'll know that the blinking does'nt come back. It must have been just grounding on something every now and again to cause the blinking.
The harness i'm reffering to has nothing to do with the steering wheel. It goes from the button at the end of the shifter , through the handle(exiting at the base)across the column and plugs into the downward harness.
