Speaker Replacement

Just to start, I've got a 2001 F-250 Crew Cab XLT.

My front passenger speaker has started hissing at me a while back, and its really starting to get on my nerves. I pulled the speaker, but it doesn't look like a standard size.

I found another post about replacing them with a Pionerr 6x9 from Wal-mart, but that was a 2005, and this doesn't really look like a 6x9 size... But then again, I've never really done much with speakers, so that may be the "normal" size. The size of the speaker was 5 5/8"w x 7 7/8" l.

Any suggestions on what will/won't work to replace the speaker? I'll probably replace both front ones, and if the price is good, maybe the rears as well... Gotta be able to crank up the tunes.

Which I have to admit, is why I need to replace them in the first place.

Thanks!

speaker

Ford uses a special speaker size that is 5 x 7. Many speakers have tabs and a size that will fit both 5 x 7 and 6 x 8. I put a set of Kenwood speakers all the way around in my 05 and have been very happy compared to the stock speakers.

I replaced my Ford oem speakers after replacing the stock head unit with an Alpine 9855. I bought an Alpine Component speaker set(5x7-6x8) meant to fit our stock hole in the door. I did have to cut a hole to install tweeter. You could just buy a good coaxial two-way speaker system and not have to do any cutting of the door panel.
I replaced the rear supercab door speakers with another set of Alpine coaxials
I am very happy with the set and I also have a JL Audio 10" sub enclousre system. DEF rocks!!!!!

good luck
