Possible GEM problem? Where is it located? 2003 Expedition
Possible GEM problem? Where is it located? 2003 Expedition
Need help. I have a 2003 Expedition XLT and when you first start up neither the p/windows or radio will work except for the clock and you can still load/eject cd's from the changer, but no radio or sound. Once the cabin is warmed up (10-15 minutes in cooler weather, shorter in warmer weather) the radio will suddenly turn on and the windows will then operate. If it is a sunny warm day and the cabin is at a high temp (estimate 90 deg. or higher) then there is no delay and everything works right from startup.
I have had truck checked for water leaks and everything is perfectly dry. It all has to do with temp. Even on a hot summer day if you run the a/c cool enough it will cause the radio/windows to shut down until you get the cabin warmed back up again. Problem has been going on for a year now. Called several dealerships and all they want is for me to bring it in. Does anybody know specifically if it is a GEM (BCM) and exactly where is it located in this model.
Thanks for any help.

what is a PCM? I can hear a "click" comming from one of the modules when it does power on and have interchanged those with knowingly good ones and doesn't improve the situation. I'm just trying to avoid costly diagnosis time as much as possible. Thanks.
