I have my 5.0L apart just to reseal it and clean it up. I want to clean the aluminum brackets , intake, alt, dist. etc. Am I better off to paint these parts with aluminum colour paint or glass bead and clear coat it?
Aluminum can be powdercoated but don't waste any time polishing the parts beforehand...the powdercoater will sandblast the part before applying the powder. This may be a good option if you don't want to spend time cleaning/buffing. I have also seen some very nice "chrome" powdercoat...this will make your aluminum parts LOOK like they have been polished and will last a lot longer.
I did the same with my cast alum 5.0 parts, after cleaning I found to many imperfections in them for clear coating. Ened up shooting them with aluminum color and then cleared them..
