Blend Door fix alternative

I have a broken blend door. I found this website and I was wondering if anyone else has tried this alternative method of fixing it. It goes for about $120.00 and only takes about an hour to put in!

If you don't mind doing the surgery, should work fine.

I should point out that they exaggerated the "normal" repair. There's no need to evacuate the AC or to drain the cooling system. Also, their explanation of the "calibration" process the computer does is hokum. Still, the conventional repair is a huge PITA so their process is likely something to be looked into.

Yes I am considering it. I have an email into them now. I have no problem cutting into things under the dash. But when I cut into the heater box how does it get sealed back. With a new outlet for air flow the rest of the vents won't flow as much air...

this gets to the motor and you can see the duct. if you cut a hole and replace the door, you cover the hole with a thin sheetmetal and screws, or the original plastic piece and rtv the crack.

I couldn't sleep at night if I did that to a customer's truck and there is no way in hell I'd do it to mine either.

Why would you trust the product of someone who doesn't know how the job is done normally? Disconnect the AC compressor? I don't think so. Maybe the evaporator, but not the compressor. 8-14 hours? Not hardly; more like 7.

If you're willing to chop up your truck to do the job, why not just buy the door from Ford and install it through the hole you cut?
