My daugter just bought an 88 cougar 5.0. It was cheap, but appeared to be basically sound.
Anyway, today she called and said it won't start. It tries to turn over about a quarter turn, then the security light starts flashing. Don't know if it is antitheft, but it sure sounds like it. Any easy way to disable the system?
Any other thoughts?
No keypad on door. Today it turned out to be the battery -- surprised me because it would try to turn -- not just the old solenoid click.
Anyway, she still wants to eliminate it -- I would too on something that old. I looked on AutoZone, and it looks like there's a relay that disables the starter solenoid. Anybody know where it might be located. Looks like you could short the relay contacts and bye bye security.
