I have been looking over this site for any info on the P525/F100 that Motor Trend had an article about a couple of months ago. I havent been active on this site for a few years as I have taken a hiatus from having internet service but am glad to be back so that I can be better informed. Thanks

Welcome back! The current edition of truck trend has a short paragraph about the F-100 stating that it would most likely come in as a Dodge Dakota size truck. This would lead me to believe that the potential discontinuation of the Ranger is making way for a mid-size truck vs a compact truck. I think it's a great move, better truck, same or better mpg's and more power and capability. The F-100 is more than enough truck for most people who want a truck.
In an article I read previously, The F100 was being cancelled or at least put on the back burner.
Ford is going ahead with the Ecoboost. Why would anyone need a smaller F100 when the Ecoboost can deliver excellent performance and MPG's in the bigger F150?

I want a truck that can pull a 5000# 20' boat/trailer. The F-100 is reported to have a towing capacity around 7000# which would be adequite for my needs.
The new 2009 F-150 SuperCrew is over 6" longer then my current 2004 F-150 SuperCrew which means it won't fit in my garage. I simply won't buy a vehicle that I have to park outside! Two friends of mine have found their rims/stereos stolen on more then one occation in their driveways.

I doubt Ford can even afford to build a new F100.
Regardless of what's coming, Ford needs to market a smaller truck to satisfy all truck buyers. Ford isn't going to risk giving away small truck sales to the competition which by the way has plenty of very capable small and mid size trucks to offer. Though times are tough in the auto industry, this isn't the time to be left behind. With a well rounded F-100, Ford could very easily win back fleet sales and former customers.
I am interested in the F100 and believe that others would feel the same way if the truck was of "Dakota" size and with the towing capabilities that at least I need. My 2000 F150 4x2 with the 5.4 has power, but drinks gas and is hard to park in and around the city where I currently live. I thought that I would like to have a new 150 but these things are mammoth in size. I have a guy that lives in the same complex as I, and parking next to his 4x4 screw makes me feel dwarfed. I no longer need that much truck and would much rather have something that I could trailer my 4 wheelers and not break the bank hauling them. The ranger certainly isn't the answer. Too small and not enough increase in economy to warrant the painfull size.

The people at truck trend and motor trend all work for the same boss. One side of the office is saying the project is delayed and the other side is saying that it will be developed, but who knows when.
