GOOD question. Ford's head honchos are dragging their feet on this one. Times are horrific in the auto world. Oil up to $104 which means this whole industry, which has been turned upside down, still has NO idea what they're doing.

I just ordered an '09 XLT 4x4 6.5" bed on Monday, 9/22. The order number is job 6157.

Don't know how long the dealer has been able to order, but it was a 'spotty' process because Ford really has not pushed the 09's yet, it seems.

We had to search across the building just to get color codes, engine/trans/rear end specs. It seemed weird.

Anyhow, if anyone at the plant resides on this forum... I'd sure like to know when that job will be built. I'm looking forward to it.

Some people here gripe about Ford trucks, but I can tell you I'm a convert. I owned Chevy's for many years, and only bought Ford in 2006 because a friend insisted I drive his... at work.

The 2006 truck is impressive.. really a great horse. I don't run a lot of miles but I'm in the utility business and therefore working in muddy fields, ditches, and at roadsides where I need to idle the thing with lot of lights running for hours on end. I also pull very heavy stuff, on occasion... and had more than one Chevy tranny take a crap on me.

I ordered an '09 sight-unseen because I believe Ford will take their truck and do better than the best they already had. We'll see.

I've left plenty of Dodge and Chevy guys sitting waiting for the repair man while I go back to work.

When I get the '09, I'll tell you more.

Jake

The official "media " launch is two weeks from today. Thats when all the magazines and others get to drive it for the first time. I have driven them and they are pretty sweet, especially the Platinum versions. You will love the power running boards, heated and cooled front seats and the new navigation system.

Stopped at my local dealer here in MN and they said they expect there first 09 on OCT 6. Would that be true.Said it is an ordered one so probably won't get a chance to look at it?

Almost all dealers should be recieving the first ones very soon, the Kansas City plant has been building them for at least the past month with Dearborn Truck starting recently. Closer to December is when they will really begin to arrive at dealers, with every configuration available. BTW, the crew cab with a 6' box is a very long truck. Looks good though, especially with the 20" chrome Platinum wheels.
