Got some new Dynomax headers, complete w/ detailed instructions-HA!!!!
Put the drivers side in first figuring that was the difficult side-no problem.Got to the other side-holy crap.Had to take out the starter-no problem. Not even close to installable. This was the end of "detailed instructions".Then proceeded to unbolt motor mount, jack tranny, remove motor mount bracket,FINALLY get header in after jacking engine up.AHHHH,finally.Tried to get motor mount bracket in,NO WAY.Ended up cutting a big chunk out of the inner fender, unbolting the shock and persuading gently with hammer.Well, now its stuck in betwwen the pipes and won't go in or come out.Tommorrow a.m. I'm going to loosen up the spring/shock bracket to hopefully gain enough room to get the bracket out so that I can grind enough off to get it stuck againRock on ,this sux
I have pulled numerous sets off JY motors (70-74 F100-250s)and only had to remove the starter, remove the motor mount single nut. Use a pry bar to lift that side of the engine and walla.
finally got everything buttoned up,had to grind some off the motor mount bracket. It sounds great, but I think it will scare children and old people within a 500 ft radius.guess open headers are illegal for a reason
I found that you have to put both pieces in at the same time(starter-header) and like a chinese puzzle will fall together just as they drop in. Most times.
Put the same headers on my '67 and it was no fun. I ended up cutting the collectors off and welding reducers on and then directly to exhaust. Made alot of room, made then easier to install without that big flange. Plus it made room for the clutch linkage on the drivers side.

did you have clearance problems w/ your front crossmember?
The crossmember just under the bellhousing? No, can't say I did. It's been 5yrs+ since I did the job. I know I had to "bump" a few tubes to make room for things. Nothing terrible, just a few smacks with a ballpeen. Everything then fit perfect.
with the transfer case in the way,I had to go under the crossmember with my extension pipe, thank Monroe muffler is 5 miles away to bend pipe 4 me.
I call up Autozone (choke-almost couldn't say it) to get cherry bombs, the lady says
"Sure we have 12" body cherry bomb glasspacks!" I'm thinking finally, this a**ache job is done.I get there, she opens the box-turbo mufflers. So now out of neccesity I have some chery bomb g.p.'s on the size of an anti aircraft gun.AAAAARRRRGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH-shoulda run shorty's up through the hood, least that woulda made me happy
