Is there a way to determine if a truck is running a tuner or chip using the AE? Would it affect ICP psi & duty cycle? At idle, or just at WOT? Any other ideas other than looking at the PCM for visible signs of a chip?
Hey Joe, does this mean you're back in town? The truck is in Austin, and I was lucky enough to have a fellow FTE member (my79f = rep him if you get a chance for me). He said there was no visible signs of a chip on the PCM, but someone could have installed the edge, superchips, or some other tuner where the programming is done through the OBDII port.
I can't use the SOTP meter because I've discovered that compared to my stock 275 hp stick, these auto's feel kind of gutless.
i do know the wast gate wont read on AE when in my HP tunes... it had me worried one day and Amiller said it wont read in a HP tune..only in stock setting..maybe its just a dp thing..i dont know..
EDIT: i should say the wast gate goes all green at a very light throttle but still builds boost in a HP setting...

That's something to keep in mind. Thanks.

I was hoping there was some other way of finding this out. ICP readings made the most sense in my mind, but I was hoping there was some other feature I hadn't discovered yet.
The price is right on this one, so it'll have to be a piece of junk, have major red flags, or the wife just won't like it for me not to get it. It's got a 4" turbo back exhaust and AFE intake, so I'm thinking a chip/tuner is or was likely.
another possibility is a "flashed" pcm....I know my excursion had an AFE cold air intake, factory exhaust, and a diablo chip....Did my79F drive it? may be the best way to tell if its " better than stock" acceleration without being able to watch the boost and pyro. A diablo chip like I have has a visible tag on the module near the E brake...not sure if thats where the pcm is wired on an excursion or not...I have not had time to do anything but drive it since I got it, plus I am still learning here.

Yes he did, but he has a BTS and is running Cale's tunes, so it's a hard to get an accurate comparison.

Apparently the interior is in great shape, and aside from a few rock chips so is the body. The price is definitely right. We're going to take a look at it tomorrow and buy Austin (my79f) some lunch while we're down there. If we get this truck, my wife will have some money to spend on mods next weekend. Hopefully there will be some good vendor displays at the North Texas get together. She's excited about checking out gauge options & other things next weekend.
