I heard on CNN that somewhere in Georgia they started to ration gas. Didn't quit specify the city. 'snip'
Yep, Augusta area. Lots of stations are limiting everyone to $25-50. I waited in line for 20 min Friday morning to get gas. Had 2 cops directing traffic at the pumps. Thomson (about 30 miles west of Augusta) ran out Wednesday or Thursday.
We need to ration gas. Im tired of people hoggin it up with trucks that dont get good milage. I say 10 gals a week and if you want more you pay more per gallon.say like 50 cent
It's a shame that there's a gas shortage, but no bandwidth shortage
Ohh, its in Augusta. I can see history will be repeating itself once again, as it did in the 1970's. Looks like i'll be dustin off the old Haro bike. lol
You can't ration what you do not have. Luckily I got to QT to fill up my Bronco II and three gas cans for my wife and chain saws, before they ran out Sunday from a very recent load. Very handy having a trailer set up to carry multiple 5 gallon cans that can be chained down. While I was chaining them down after I pulled away from the pump, QT shut down, boy I was lucky
Just a few weeks ago, oil dropped to under $100/barrel. But instead of gas prices going down, they jumped back up to record highs. We were told this was because of hurricanes, that were going to knock out refineries and create a gasoline shortage.
All across North America, we're paying higher gas prices, because gasoline stocks are tight until these refineries are brought back online.
What I don't understand is this? If bad weather on the Gulf Coast can increase demand for Canadian gasoline, and the price we pay at the pump here in Canada, then why is that gasoline not getting to the markets where it is needed?
The great thing about shortages is that they drive up the price so that those who decide that the utility of the item at hand is worth the extra price will buy it. Those who do not find utility from the item will not buy it for that price. Supply/demand
