my dad's truck died on him a while back while he was driving. when trying turn the motor over it cranks fine, has fuel pressure, but never cranks up. the odometer has staight dashs across. we took it to the dealership and they said the pcm was dead. they installed a new one and the truck ran great for about 10 miles untill it died on the way home from the dealership. took it back and they installed and programed another pcm. ran fine again. this time we told the dealership to go drive it around for a while to test it out. guess what, it died on them after 15 miles. trucks been in the shop for 2 months now. is there something that could be shorting out the pcm? by the way the ruck is a 99 F-250LD 4.6 automatic trans.
I had numerous electrical issues with my 97 Lariat 5.4 and was told that the trucks from 97 through 2000 were notorious for windshield leaks from the factory. I've gone through not being able to shut my headlights off until the key is turned off to my dome and cargo lights staying on so long they started melting the boot around the bulb socket to my windshield washer shorting out the wiper fuse. Can't say whether or not I was fed accurate info but too many things happened to disregard it altogether.
