well here we go again... first thanks for all the help with the fuel pump running like a champ now another prob... posted a while back bout my power steering. title was power steering grrr... i think.. look for it and read it and let me know what yall make of it.. sorry brandon cant pull the track but check out myspace.com/bakerbuilttracks to see some pics.. thanks guys
when turning left or stopped at a light after some time of driving i get this wicked grinding noise. i can be stopped and start to turn the wheel left and it increases. to the right alls good. put a new p/s pump in and the same result. it sounded like the pump? when i hit a bump while turning i seems it gets worse on the compression of the suspension. anyone any clue. maby the steering gear box?
yea its something mechanical like a pump pulley gear box etc. if im driving for a while then stop at a light with my foot on the brake "not moving" i get this horiffic grinding noise... while sitting still at the light if i try and turn left its hard to turn and the grinding noise intensfies... take my foot off the brake it still dose it untill i tap the gas a little it goes away... even with no brakes i can drive for a while stop in park turn left and shes a grinding. to the right alls well...
oh and if i compress the suspension on the up stroke of the suspension it dose it aswell. all the way down my dirt road this has been going on for a while. dose it really bad if i pull my trailer. some one said to check the hydro boost system ??? whats that??? i also seen somewhere theirs a "power steering sensor" that tells the pump or gear box that the motor is idoling... maby thats it.. or the brake booster.. its really agervating and i want it fixed
Hydroboost is part of the braking system, it connected to the power steering system, the hydroboost uses the power steering pump somehow.
I don't think that is your problem if it does it while driving on a bumpy road. Must be suspension related or your axle joints are not moving freely. Does you steering kinda stick when you turn, and you have to help it return to center?
I would check your ball joints and make sure they aren't binding . Then I would check the steering gearbox. If they check out okay, flush the system and add a small magnafine filter and refill with synthetic.
