brake bore diameter

would a wheel cylinder with a 1 3/16" diameter be better than one with a 1 1/16" diameter or is it the other way around?

Depends what you mean by "better". For the same pressure from the master cylinder the bigger dia. cylinder will exert more force on the shoes. This means that the brakes will lock up with less pedal pressure. Also the bigger cylinder will need more fluid to move the pistons and hence more pedal travel. However with properly adjusted shoes this should not be an issue. Hope this helps.

for best results, replace it with, what you took off.

I have a -92 E350, 7.3 diesel, single rear wheel.
My bands are 12" by 3.5" wide and my wheelcylinders are 1 1/16" bore if this helps
