I did a search and read some good info, BUT
I have looked through all the parts catalogs I have and can't find a 6v wiper motor. Did find one for 49-52, but then 53 and up were all 12 v.
Does anyone know of a source for a 6v electric wiper motor for a 53 F100?
I may end up sticking with the vacuum motor? Read some good ideas for a vacuum tank that sounded good. But I'm thinkin a 6v electric would be the best way to go.
Thanks in advance.

As original: The following info was taken from the 1948/56 Ford Truck Parts Catalog. This is the exact same catalog that was used by the dealers.
1956 was the first year for 12 volts (negative ground), so all the previous wiper motors are 6 volts (positive ground).
Ford offered a 6 volt electric wiper motor as an option in 1953, it fits thru 1955: B5C17508A.
An internet search of Ford parts obsolete dealers for one of these original 6V electric wiper motors shows that Dennis Carpenter's NOS parts website shows ONE: 704-786-8139.
This is not the same wiper motor he shows in his 1948/56 repro catalog.
btw: You can buy a CD version of the 1948/56 Ford Truck Parts Catalog from hipoparts.com.
Bill,
Thanks. I had read that the electric wiper was offered as an option, but all the catalogs that I looked through (including DC) showed 12v from 53 on and didn't offer a 6v one. I will go check out DC's part number you gave me.
THANKS for all your help, I am always amazed at your info.

I also have that DC catalog, it's confusing inre to those 12V wiper motors used on 1955 and earlier trucks.
Reading that catalog makes one think that the wiper motors are all 12 volt, when in fact, the DC catalog ASSUMES that peeps have changed their original system from 6 to 12 volts.
Assuming isn't facts!
Call them on that wiper motor, it's not the same one that's shown in his 48/56 repop catalog, it's a NOS (New, Old Stock) original.
DC also sells obsolete parts, he prolly has one a the largest inventories on the planet.
I have a good one from my 53. I have a person that may be interested, but if he doesn't need it, I can sell it to you. I am converting to a vacuum unit for mine.
I saw that on e-bay and inquired. Those motors for the 51-52s have a drive out each side of the motor - pushes and pulls. Doesn't the 53-56 motor have a single rotating pinion that drives both sides?
Anyway, the passenger side of the e-bay motor is inop. I don't know if it's not connected, of if the gears in that sides transmission are stripped. That used to happen a lot when the wiper arms were put back on and the motor wasn't in the right parked position. First thing that would happen is the wiper are would get thrust down onto the cowel and when it couldn't go any further, it would break something.
Here's an interesting question and Bill would probably know the answer: Wipers on BOTH sides of the 51/52 F1s were not standard, but an option - usually in the 5 Star Deluxe Cabs would you get both sides. Question: were there two electrical motor set ups where with #1 only the drivers side would work (ie the pass side was disconnected internally) or #2 where both sides worked. On that 51/52 motor the drive on each side is independent of the other.
Julie, the 52 electric units' bracket that mounts the unit also locates both pivots; so there was never a driver's side only electric unit AFAIK. The drive on each side is independent only in that the worm driven gears and cranks are separate for each side, so it's possible (if you try hard) to get them out of phase with each other.

J!
"Dual wipers" were just like the left hand door lock cylinders, which were optional on some, standard on others.
The parts catalog shows every wiper system except one, the electric setup used 1948/52.
I have to confess that I know very little about these trucks, as I've never owned one, or even sat in one. I have owned 3 '56's, but that was 35 some years ago.
The 6 volt electric set-up came as an option on the 1951 and 1952 only.I think it was an option that came with the 5 Star Extra Cab.On the dash of 1951 and 1952 in the middle you can see two small indentions where the screws are used to mount this set-up.Of course you have to drill these two holes! You can still purchase the switch, the three wires and the pivot assemblies for this unit, but no motor. I have a set-up but never can get myself to drill holes in dash and give up the old vacuum!
