Did anyone notice? The starter of this post hasnt come back? In his post he wants replies sent to an email address. SO...... no help here unless he come back.
Thanks for all of your replys. I'm really a 55 Chevy guy who bought a 56 Ford F100 on a whim or should I say a trade for a .357 pistol. I think I got the better end of the deal. She's a little rough, but it looks like they make all new parts for her.
Ok, I got new + and - wires on the battery and the + wire hooked to the left side of the starter solenoid on the firewall and battery is fully charged. I wire brush the frame where the - cable bolts to the frame for a good ground. The wiring on this looks terrible under the dash and firewall. When my daughter pushs in the clutch and turns the key nothing happens. Should I be able to take a remote start cable and hook a wire on both sides of the SOLENOID and see if it turns over in case the ignition switch/wiring is bad. Otherwise the SOLENOID or starter is bad I would suspect. Or is there something I'm over looking here?
To eliminate ignition swithch and solenoid problems, Just turn the key to the on position, and use jumper cables from the battery + and - and the other end of the cables put the - on the exhaust or a good ground and the + directly on the starter stud and it will crank, unless the starter is bad.
The reason I leave the ignition swith on is this will send the needed power to the coil.
Armilite did you try to turn the motor by hand to make shure its not siezed, also check for a neutral switch, and a switch on the clutch pedal ,i had a truck where the p.o. had installed thease...........
If you want to use a remote starter connect one clip to the terminal where the batt cable is connected and the other clip to the terminal marked S ,make both of thease conections on the starter solenoid on the firewall if the solenoid and starter are good it will crank ......
Aww, i like the messy oil bath, its the most efficiant air cleaner...I've been contimplating removing it and replacing with a crome job...But there's something to be said about the oil bath...
