I know that this topic may be kinda worn out, but here goes...
There is an exhaust shop here that has said that they will put stacks on my truck for $300 but I have to buy the stacks. They are going to come off the y-pipe and go into 3" and into the bed.
Is this a good price? Anybody know a good yet cheap place to get 2- 3" stacks?
What type of stacks you want, nice chromed-out ones, or just flat black ones? I got a single 3" stack, here's what I paid for it: 3"x5' pipe = $10, 3" rain cap = $10, 3" regular clamp = $3, 3" band clamp = $7, adapter from 3" OD to 2.5" ID = $5, short piece of 2.5" flex pipe = $5, and I reused all my 2.5" clamps and some of the bends from the stock tailpipe. Total of $40 or so. If I wanted dual stacks that would be about double that, but still less than $100, and it would include all the materials. In other words - crawl under truck and get to planing, then do the 2.5" piping yourself and finally install 3" pipes of your choice.
Honestly, if you want to do stacks, do at least 4". I don't really know of any places that even sell 3" stacks, and also 3 inchers will look tiny once they are installed.
havent plumbed them in yet, thats hopefully going to be this weekends project. there just standing there in these pics, i know ima have to cut them down a fuzz but oh well.... and im going to have to even them up
do chrome!!! Aluminized will rust unless its painted!!
Not necessarily - I drove my Chevy with just aluminized stacks for over a month last winter, then let it sit outside for another month while I was in TX, then when I came back I literally dug it out the snow and then drove it for another month before I traded it for an F150 - never noticed any traces of rust on the stacks, and I was actually looking for them too.
But my stack now is painted, and so was the other one I had before that too - black looks great on our trucks.

Actually I think they look good like that, gives the truck a bit more hard-working looks. But damn, go to Lowe's and buy some 2x4s, your wooden stakes look like hell bro (I got stakes too).

those are vinemaple, it took us almost 30 acres of land in washington, to find them that straight
and when i plumb the stacks in im taking the racks off
Hm, well I love the way my truck looks with the stack and the stakes, but tis a dually so I'd imagine on a SRW truck the combination may look a bit odd...
And, EVERY piece of aluminized pipe I've ever had has gotten patches of rust on it in a very short amount of time, especially if it comes in contact with any water.
