I have recently picked up a 2000 f150 with the 5.4 liter, just wondering if I can find out what trans it has? It has 3.55 gears and is a four door with a 6.5 foot bed. Also was wondering if it is safe to use the prestone radiator flush as I would like to flush the coolant system, thanks.
yep looks like the trans fluid is clean and it shifts fine so probably in good shape. Thinking of using the prestone coolant flush on it, a friend said that you have to be careful using the flush as it can damage gaskets if you do not get it all out.
Both trucks should have a trans code of "U" which is the 4R70W. It's a good tranny.
The "E" code trannys are usually in the 7700 package with 7 lug wheels, Lightnings and Superduty's. Rarely are they found in the standard F150's.
Also just for the record, the Supercrew didn't have an available 6.5 bed until mid 2006 I believe. Lx is correct...only the 7700lb payload got the 4R100
