I'm glad you found this site. There is more wisdom, information, history, and knowledge here than you can shake a stick at. It also helps because these guys are very willing to share it with you.
I wish you well with the truck and am looking forward to seeing the pics

DO NOT use the wife's new flat top oven to cure the high heat paint ( a 3 step process ) on the exhaust manifolds for your flathead !!! .Actually the buddies thought it was quite funny .
Looks like a really decent truck, especially for WI. The front fenders look pretty rough but almost anything can be fixed. I did a set for my F-4 that were just as bad but it was a fun project and I had a real sense of accomplishment when I got them in primer.
Jefferson is this weekend. Both of the vendors I mentioned above will be there so you can check them out in person. Marv from Olde Time Auto parts is a nice guy, I've been buying from him for over 25 years. I think I might have helped put at least on of his kids through college. I've bought from the new owner of The Ford Barn, he a lot better than the original owner, IMO, and he's got a really nice shop in Hustiford, just west of Hartford.
Jefferson is kind of dry on Bonus Built stuff, I go mainly because it's a swap meet. I don't think I'll be going this weekend though, just too much stuff that has to get done here. If you go you have to get a Tiger Bar.
Welcome to the board. This is the best site for information. I'm working on a 49 and learning a lot from all these great folks. Keep that truck, I have a buddy that is still sick about selling his 48 F1 that was his first truck at 17, so hold onto the truck, and yes the ladies don't always understand unless they have the bug also like the gals on this site. They love the trucks like you do.

Okay, so I pulled the voltage regulator because whenever I connected the battery up it always made a bit of a spark (does this mean it's drawing energy when it's not suppose to) anyways, I got a new one from carquest (it's not the right model but i threw it on) and it stopped sparking after I hooked it up. Is this a good fix? I'm a bit confused. I have to do some more research but if anyone can help... Thanks!
Oh, by the way, my wife LOVES our truck, We are attending an event Saturday that will have over 3000 cars and trucks. Our club has a spot reserved that will park at least 40 old ford F1 and F100s. Pictures to follow, I hope.
Hey Max, I missed the pix when I first posted, Great truck and running too, TOO COOL! You have a jump on a lot of folks so soak up the knowledge, 'cause you are on a great site.

Max, is the truck still 6 volt? Whenever you replace these electrical parts, you need to polarize the terminals. Bobby should have the correct procedure for the 48-52, I can look it up for the 53-55. The spark could be any number of things, but it sounds like maybe there was a contact sticking in the regulator.
The voltage regulator, and generator on these old trucks need to be polarized. This is done by contacting briefly a wire from the regulator to ground. I don't know the concept behind it other than it won't function properly without doing it, and it needs to be done if the system was serviced (a part replaced).
