This is my first BLACK truck I have ever owned. I washed and waxed it immediately after purchase. Truck only has 20,000 miles on it and is flawless. I waxed it under flourescent lights in the garage and it looked beautiful; Until I took it outside in the sunlight. White swirl marks every where. A friend told me it was because the dealer buffed the hell out of it for the showroom before I bought and waxed it. I had another thread about what kind of waxes to use on black paint, but how do I get it back to basics to re-wax. I never had this trouble with any other color truck Ive owned. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I always buy BLACK I wash with the MR. CLEAN sprayer ( it works ) and wax with NEW FINISH by hand never any problems Maybe your wax was bad or you might have used the wrong hands for wax on wax off
I'm in the same boat as you. First black truck, big bright swirl mark when it's in the sun.
I'm going to try some #9 Meguiars swirl remover with a foam applicator.
Then follow up with the other usual components.
At first you might want to get some dawn dish soap, wash the truck and start all over again. Others will tell you what type of polish/wax and especially what buffer pads to use. I have heard that 3M compunds are good. Meguiers is good as well. Keep us posted. Black is a beatiful color when its all clean the proper way.
I had the same problem as everyone else, told the dealer "DON'T TOUCH MY TRUCK WHEN IT GETS HERE"....well they did more then touch it, they put swirl marks on the bed panels and tail gate, and got grease on my seat, wheel, and arm rest moving it!.
Well I did get the grease out, and worked the swirl makes out with a few hand wax's and polishes... o and got 6 free oil changes after some b***hing.
Mine was exactly the same way, the dealer must have waxed the damn thing (bought it with 30K) well in the sun it looked horrible. I took it to the local Ziebart and let them professionally wax it for less than $100, looks perfect now!!!!!
Thanks for all the info., I do have a local detailing shop I have used before, but he needs the truck for a whole day, and right now I cant do that. I'll try washing it back to bare paint and go from there. I will keep you informed.
