Does anyone have any guesses to what I'm looking at here? I started my Expy today (5.4l) and when I put it in gear and hit the gas I heard a LOUD pop/poof and then lost all power.
Now the truck starts but just barely, and has the puffing/huffing sound while it's trying to run. I can't see anything visibly wrong. No plugs popped out, no leaks from the heads, the exhaust seems intact.
I'm not sure where to start, Cat collapsed? Head gasket (although the coolant is full and no leaks), Timing belt/chain?
The truck has 105k on the odometer and ran great up until this morning! Also the check engine light did not come on...somehow!?!?
HELP!

Reason: addition
What you could've heard was a muffled backfire in the throttle body. Your fuel pump could've went and now you're not getting the correct amount of fuel. First thing to do is connect a pressure gauge to the fuel rail and see what the fuel pressure is.
I had pieces of my cat in my Jeep break loose and clog the outlet. Wouldn't run right after that, virtually no power. Easy to check on the jeep as the joints were clamped not welded. Not sure about Expedition.
