Hey guys, I just got a message from Chris (Maverick1701) needing help. Well I called him and he is down there with a pinion seal that is spewing lube. I didn't have time to talk to him about the specifics, but he says he's maintaining at this time just adding lube. But since he lives here in TX, I'm not sure if he's gonna try to change the seal out or not when he tries to come home. But I'm certain it would make him feel alot better to know we have someone within reach if he goes down hard. So if we have someone down there that's willing to lend a hand or impact wrench, please let me know. You can PM me if you want, and I can pass the info on to him if he needs it. And I'm not sure exactly where he is in FL, but when I got the message he said he was in the panhandle. But when I called him, he said he had about 4hrs more to go. Anyway, holler at me guys and we can be ready if the worst happens. I'm sure he'll be okay, but just in case. Thanks guys.
I posted this down the OBS forum, but Justin suggested I post here too. He thought there might be more guys close. Thanks guys.
I'm here in Florida on the east coast 35 miles south of KSC in Palm Bay.
I have nothing tool wise to help with but will help him if I can......my truck is down right now getting a new water pump.
Can he afford to have a good shop replace the seal? I can recomend 1 here locally.
Like Supercab, I can't offer much in the way of help. I do have a driveway he can use if he needs a place to work, but I don't have much in the way of tools he would need for that job.
I, too, can recommend a good mechaninc in Palm Bay. I haven't found anyone here in Zero Beach, yet.
UPDATE: he made it back to somewhere in louisiana, when it finally got to a point where he needed to stop off at a shop. i havent checked today, but i think he was able to make it home.
Yes, he's home. Thanks for your help guys. Even though the thread is a few days old, if he was in bad shape, we could have it under control with your help. That's the way I look at it. As long as I can contact someone on the forum, help is not that far away. Worst case senario, you stay in your truck for the night. And if it was an emergency, I have no doubt the forum members would recognize it and make all the right moves to contact the nearest member for help immediately. Thanks again guys.
