good day any one have a soulution to this problem? i am trying to get at the dist bolt to set the timeing on a 460 with the stock air compresser and tried about every thing short of removing the pump/brackets cant get in with a wrench standard or swivel end, socket 1/2" or 1/4" drive with universal joint as it seems the only place to get bite is on the pump side any help?regurds joe
I hate to say it but I bought the crooked wrench to adjust mine I hate buying tools that only serve one purpuse, but it was easier than trying to get to that darn bolt Good luck I bought mine at Orielies Auto Parts it was like 15 Bucks
Right tool for the right job.
I love buying tools. I especially like the specialty tools. Such a drool factor when you can complete a job that takes a guy without the correct tool, in a matter of minutes while he is struggling to get creative.
The correct wrench will have a box end to limit rounded bolt, and it will be much longer than a homemade wrench that is all bent up.
I use Snap-on tools, so putting the heat to these is something I am not willing to do. I will spend the extra dough on the right tool. Sure does make it easy as pie.
No busted knuckle either. That is worth it weight in gold right there.
I agree, either way will do the job. Personally, i would make my own. But whatever floats your boat. Go to a pawn shop or something, pick up a chinese wrench for a buck, and bend away.
i like Harbor Freight for "one use" tools. they are really cheap, and when they break i know i didnt spend that much on 'em. ive had Harbor Freight tools last a good bit when i dont put my whole weight on them.
got the answer! decided to put my other 468 motor in as this one has a wicked rear main seal leaking any ways and the other one is all ready set up to go good thing i didnt charge the air cond as i have to remove any ways and i will bet a $1.00 the dist is seized tight upon working a few hours to loosen the manifold studs i see the moter mount rubbers are completly shot so i will have to pull the motor to get at them any ways thanks for the help
