Fuel lines from bowl leaking !!

Today I decided to pull the fuel bowl out and clean all the junk in the bottom out . Reinstalled and had a huge spay coming from one of the feed lines going to the rails. I noticed when I loosened the nuts and slid them back that there were small pieces of the rubber seal stuck on the end of 3 of the 4 fittings . Looking at the rubber gasket/seals I noticed that they were 1/4 " long cylinder type that helps to seal the connection . I thought they were going to be a flair type fitting when I started but they were not . Can someone tell me if I can just replace the rubber seals or do I have to buy new fuel lines with them already in place . Why do they use this kind of set-up instead of a flare type fitting anyway ? Thanks

part# IH 685158c1 only a couple of bucks a piece... when you install..turn nut till you feel it hit the rubber oring..then give it a half to full turn...do not crank them down tight..you will spoil the oring...

I'm assuming the IH stands for International part number.

I think I may have cranked the one down to hard , you know , tighter is better , apparently not so . Do they just slide in over the line from the open end ?

IH = International Harvester. That's where the company got it's start. Of course everything got split up and now Navistar owns International Truck and Engine Corp, and the tractors are a part of CaseIH, but yes IH is the International part number.

If you have a seals & o-ring supplier close buy you can get the o-rings much cheaper, of course most of these places have a $5 or $10 minimum order. This can make a good excuse to stock up on other miscellaneous o-rings you might need in the future. Here's a link to the o-ring chart so you can see what material and sizes the o-rings are. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...ml#post6406223
