Quality HPOP o-rings?

With thanks to this forum, I am about to replace my hpop o-rings, and also the turbo pedestal o-rings at the same time.
My question is..are there different quality o-rings (viton?) that I should request when ordering?
Why do the originals leak so commonly? I dont see why they should need to be replaced every few years.
I will be ordering some (along with p/steer pump, and maybe some accessories) from over there, so any recommendations welcomed!

Our handy 7point3 dot com link is down that has a list of the proper sizes and ratings of O-rings for our motors. Yes there are different grades, so be sure you get the proper one(s). Do you not have an O-ring supplier over there that could sell them cheaper? I use H&D Distributors, Inc. Your Complete Source for Seals for my O-rings.

I don't really think the failures are that common. I haven't replaced any HPOP O-rings on the 6 7.3 superduty's I've got. I have had to deal with a set of fuel drain valve o-rings on one of them. If you order O-rings from over here, I'd wait (if you can) for the above website to come back on line (down for server upgrade) and order all the ones you think you might need.

The main issue is the part of the fitting that threads on to the HPOP works it's way loose and then the o-rings gets the full fury of the oil pressure. The key is the locktite 680 that comes in the kit. Pricey stuff but I've had no problems since I did mine.

Make sure you clean the threads real well and that they are completly dry before you reassemble. There are instructions with the kit, but I can e-mail them to you if you decide to get your own o-rings. I know SpringerPop just used regular locktite and was sucessful as he cleaned and dried his threads thoroughly.

PM me if you want the instructions that came with the Ford o-ring kit.

And he means THOROUGHLY! Clean, as in spotless, as in NO OILY FILM or residue AT ALL!!!

Do I make myself clean.... errrrr clear??

Goin' on two years with no leaks. I am convinced that cleanliness is the key to this situation, not the o-ring material.

BTW, there's a vendor on ebay that has the rings and LocTite real reasonable. "cluxy", I believe.

Only occasional oil spots from the end of my CCV hose back by the exhaust tip, and that's not caused by an o-ring.

Mate...everything is cheaper in USA, even by the time its freighted over here.
I'm even going to get some oil filters sent with my order ($12 compared to $40).
What is the 'kit' you refer to (with loctite) no-one over here seems to know about that?
Is it genuine ford?
Hey Springerpop, is 2 years good? I was hoping for 10 years after the repair! Will check ebay.
I dont want to measure all the o-rings required, would prefer to buy them in a kit, are kits available? (pedestal and hpop)
It would appear one of the leaks is the rear of the hpop with the big circlip and (welch) plug?
Do you think the loctite might be sealing the oil instead of the o-rings once they are replaced?
