The exaust also smells very bad.The guy at advance auto said before I start replacing sensors get it checked out at a shop because it could be something else. Anyone have any suggestions or coments? Also if it is the 02 sensor where is bank 2 located? Is it a easy changr or something that needs to go to the dealer for
Thanks for any help

To do O2 sensors, I like this special socket from Lisle, it cost about $8 and is cheaper/easier than making your own. It is just a socket with a slit for the harness to come through, I find it easier to use and an open/box end wrench. The procedure I use is to spray it with penetrating oil and let it sit at least 15 minutes. Then let the motor run until the pipe is warm to the touch. Then unscrew it.
The o2 sensors are scheduled to be changed around 60k. I would advocate just doing both while your under the truck.
I guess that if the person at Advance Auto told you that it was the bank 2 O2 sensor they read the code, yes? If they did, just what code, did the system show? A "P" code for the bank 2 O2 sensor can be any of a number from P0150 to P0167. Each of those 18 codes being a different problem. As for the "bad smell" the source of it may be the reason that the sensor has failed. If something has gotten into the combustion pathway via the air intake or the fuel and passed into the exhaust system it may have contaminated the sensor. I recently saw a forum thread about changing the O2 sensors on a '97 5.4L over at "How-To" - O2 Sensor Install - F150online Forums
O2 sockets are available through the tool loan program at my local Advance Auto store. It is a do-it-yourself job especially if you have a set of ramps. These are what I have; ( Advance Auto Part Number: 11905) I feel a lot safer when under a vehicle that is sitting on them, rather than on a set of stands.
I posted the exact code. any one have any experience with this.I'm just trying to find out as much as possible so I don't spend a lot of unnecessary money...
