May be a stupid question, but you did loosen the bolt that holds it down, right??
If you did, and it still wont budge, try taking the bolt and hold down bracket completely off.. it may be frozen/rusted to the bracket..
yes that was a given it completely off now and still no budge i have hit it with a hammer and wedged wood under and tryed to pry up and nothing i know it aluminum and it can brake if i hit it too hard
Have you tried to run the engine to op-temps to heat up the manifold? Heat will loosen seized parts esp. aluminum. (I would try a West Virginia Speed Wrench, but with a lot of caution.) Just my opinion here...
Aluminum, zinc and brass shrink at about twice the rate iron does.
So cooling is the trick. :)
A guy on here tried my idea and it worked for him.
Dry ice. :)
Back in the ~9th grade my buddie's dad got a 300 WinMag case stuck in his
reloading die. He tried all kinds of stuff including threading it 1/4-20 stripping
the threads out and then going to 5/16-18 which didn't work either. :)
Someone mentioned dry ice and he came home with a free hunk of it. :)
He put the brass case down on the dry ice and lifted just as he asked "how
long you suppose this'll take?" and the case fell out as he picked it up to move
it to another spot on the dry ice. :)
We all laughed it was so quick.
....he'd worked at it all day! :)
I have seen this before. My parents and I used to run a family garage and had this problem a couple of times. We had 2 people, one to pry up with a prybar and one to twist the dist. back and forth. It seems like it's only Fords for some reason. The "races" for lack of the right term, seems to gum or corrode.
My 460 was that way, soaked it with everything I could think of, even tried heat, nothing would work. I tried prying other ones out before only to break them. Got up one weekend morning, bought oil pan and pump gasket, droped both and took a small blunt punch and tapped up from botton side and reassembled. Just poped out like with no problems.
i have a 2wd and a 351 m i dont think i can get the pan off without lifting the motor up it been soaking for two days now and no budge going to try a pipe wrenk tomorrow and a tourch maybe

Danggit the heat from the torch will tighten it.
You don't want to go to the grocery store and buy some dry ice?
Arm said his came right out in the morning. ;)
if you are replacing the distributor, hit it with a hammer causing a spinning motion. best place i found was the vacuum advance part. the twisting motion broke mine loose.
also this would work even better with the dry ice method mentioned earlier

"Aluminum. copper, zinc and lead all expand farther than iron when heated
and contract fa[r]ther when cooled. :)"

"If it is the aluminum causing it to stick I'd figure out a way to cool it like dry
ice or something and at least try that before putting too much strain on it.
If you break it off, it'll still be stuck in there. :/"
bustedflush:
Thanks! great idea. Been a week and it's still stuck.
I'll Try the dry ice tomorrow. and let you know how it goes.

Decided not to wait. Worked like a charm. You're a genius!
Alvin:
"Ahh gee... :)" (looks down, kicks dirt)
...thanks for trying the idea out for us! :)
Alvin's not a genius in AZ
ps- could I make it any easier for you tho? ;)
Try the dry ice, try the dry ice............I'm sure it can only work or not work, it's prob'ly not as expensive as the aggravation you've already expended, right?
