just a suggestion, but when I put my new distributor back into the hole, the alumninum housing is going to get coated with Anti-sieze. I don't care if it doesn't help, it sure can't hurt anything!!!

Try brake fluid instead of wd-40 and such. Put some brake fluid around the area where the distributor goes into the engine. Let sit for an hour or so and you should be able to turn it. Brake fluid is fantastic for loosening parts, just dont get any on yout paint.

DD, that was Yukon's first post. :)
I save my old brake fluid to use for paint remover. :)

Anybody else not "do as they're told" and save it too? ;)

And yeah, anti seize on everything! :)
Even in AZ it works like a champ. :)

Yea, I wanted to see if the dry ice would work--sounds like a good idea. So, what would you do, bust it up and pack it around the dizzy somehow?

He's in Tennessee, may not be easy to get? :/

I figure the way I'd do it is to take all the stuff out of the distributor so
just the aluminum shell and shaft are left and fill it full of crushed dry ice.

With gloves on...
While waiting for it to actually work, I'd be trying to twist the sorry sucker.

Maybe its just me but I had to read the last post three times to understand it.
I'm no english teacher but...
73Dentsidecustom - A little punctuation might help you to be understood better.

well, pounding or shoving on the vacuum advance actuator will only screw that up, and i just priced and purchased one today @ $40.00.....maybe 'better idea' to remove the advance actuator, which will much more readily allow for the 'west virginia' idea (pipe wrench)....agree you want to first break it loose by turning
