Hey there to all. Ive had 3 Rangers in my ownership. A '95 2WD Supercab Splash, a '99 4X4 Sport, and (my favorite) a 2004 FX4. I traded my FX4 in for a loaded F150, which I regret sometimes. Not because I don't like my F150, it's just because I loved both my trucks. Like children, it was hard too choose...
Anyway, Im leasing the F150 and when the lease is up, depending on gas and the price of the trucks, I would get another Ranger. However, recently I went to a local Ford dealer and test drove a 2008 FX4 Ranger and noticed the interior seemed so much smaller then my other Rangers. It had the sport leather seats with the flow-through console. My '04 Ranger had the 60/40 split bench, but the other 2 I owned had the bucket seats with the center console yet still seemed bigger. Am I imagining things or has the interior shrunk? Or am I used to my F150?
(btw, why'd Ford get rid of the FX4 Level II?!? I liked the fact there was an FX4 and a Level II.)
once you get used to a ful-size interior, the ranger does seem small. i traded my '88 ranger for a '92 3/4 ton chevy. when i wnet back to a ranger chasis, it was like a compact car. id hate to be feeding that 40 gallon tank/350 V8 these days, 20 gallon with the 4.0 is bad enough.
the cockpit design and feel of buckets and console vs the open 60/40 design is also something to consider. When I changed over the bench to my explorer buckets and console it seemed smaller..but for me it was a much better feeling setup.

One might also wonder why Ford is getting rid of the Ranger in general.
As far as size goes, I have a 07 with 60/40 seats. Definitely smaller than my dad's full size chevy, but still comfortable. Leg room is good for the Ranger too.
