Well me and the old man finished the Canola, hopefully by the time I go back to work we can get 1/2 the wheat done.
Proof I've been spending way too much time at the farm....
Believe it or not this was NOT me, dad hasn't told me how he did it but I don't think I'm gonna ask
Thats what our loadstar had too, our newer one (84ish, and I forget the model number) has a 402 in it, actually not bad for power, but only a 4x2 tranny.
Detroit 8.2 litre. Some stupid odd ball motor that is a POS. It was Detroits only attempt at a true 4 cycle diesel, it didn't work....
Years back I almost bought something like a Ford 800 with the same engine.
What problems weer there with the 8.2?
Instead of a 402 did you mean a IHC 404 motor Sheldon? I don`t know much about IHC`s except I have heard of a 404........
The main problem is there is no turbo or supercharger and compression seems less then most other diesels. Detroit advertised the motor as a "fuel pincher" I guess our truck is too large for the motor the truck used to be a single axle van body grocery hauler.
This motor was made to rival the Cummings 555 and Cat 3208 which were also duds.
I don`t think that the Cat 3208 is a dud. I know they`re a throw away motor and all but if looked after they do keep on going.........
The one in my 86 L8000 tandem has certainly stood the test of time and is working good except that, like usual, I`d like more power.
The 3208/175 hp I had in my 75 L8000 single axle seemed a little more peppy than this 3208/210 hp for some reason.
