Some of the 3208's were pretty crappy, especially for a CAT engine. Not all though, its like anything else, they had some good, some bad, but from what I hear, more bad then good.
If yours is working out for ya Morris, thats awesome! Defintly wouldnt wanna see ya get a crappy one, no one needs that.
As for the power difference, I bet it has something to do with weight, how much lighter is your s/a compared to your tandem??
The 3208 in my tractor has been good it is the old style with the new heads, Im not sure if it made any difference but, it has been good to me. The biggest problem with the 3208 is it has no sleves so they tend to run hot. I have been told by a couple of people that as long as you work them in there load range they will last as good as any motor.
Cool pictures Ryan, I got a couple I was going to post up of the Merc working but, they're still on my phone which is out on the combine.
You betcha. He was trying to get me to drive out there to help him fix a combine tire though haha. Surprisingly enough, If I drove out there with the honda, brought a patch with me from the city, and helped him do it, it would be alot cheaper then him getting the local tire truck to come out and fix it.
Most people around me are just starting to get into the durum and wheat, another week of nice weather and most people sould be done. we had to fix a combine tire a few years ago, and it actually wasn't the job I thought it would be. The biggest problem was getting jacket up because the field was so soft.
Its kinda funny, my dad went overkill jacking it up for sure, he jacked it way high up, and put a bunch of 6x6 blocks under there so it will not come down, and its high enough that you can spin it and everything!
I have a couple of them, they are nice to use, last forever (obviously) but mine are pretty long and they get to be a pain in te *** lugging them around all the time!
