Welcome back, brother!! It's times like this I wish I was home the most. Some of my guys went down to help, and honestly, I would reather be home, helping my fellow Texans and Americans through hurricane recovery than being here. I know there's important work here, but to me, nothing is more important than helping our own. That's one lesson I took from Katrina that I hadn't anticipated. Yeah, it was crappy at first -- no showers for a week, working until you drop, just to get up and start again when you wake up.... But you never loose sight of why you're there, and that's hard to keep in mind over here sometimes.

I can see that in the military people that are helping out down here. They made daily ice deliveries, via helicopter, to the community center in Willis. It was very apparent that the folks taking part in that mission were enjoying what they were doing and getting great satisfaction from it.

My hat is off to them.

Thought I would post up a few pics from around our house and Willis. I took tons of pics and am still going through them all but here's a few:

This is of a real estate office in town:

Tree in neighbor's yard:

Grilling boudin and warming up some Wolf Chili for a late night snack. Hey, I had been drinking tequila and I didn't want that boudin to go bad!

FEMA survival package. 50#s of ice, a case of civilian MREs and a case of water.

Tree in my back yard.

While waiting in line for diesel, the power trucks form North Carolina roll into town.

Making sausage and shrimp jambalaya. Yes, I can cook anything, anywhere...

I have some more that I will post up later, if you guys want to see them.
